China's systematic anti-Hallyu policy sinde 2017

The Hallyu bans imposed by the Chinese government are restrictions that have been in place since early 2017 due to the controversy surrounding the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system by the US military in South Korea against the North Korean threat. The Chinese did not accept the American anti-missile systems for the South Koreans because they believed that the high-performance radar system was aimed at them. When the South Korean government was not willing to follow this logic, China imposed bans as a retaliatory measure against all media content produced in South Korea or advertisements supported by South Korean celebrities for Chinese audiences.
